Yes, I do fly economy sometimes! Particularly on short-hauls, it makes a lot of sense because the benefits of premium cabins are low and cash or miles prices are usually cheap.
Cathay Dragon is Cathay Pacific’s rebranding of its subsidiary, Dragonair. Dragonair is primarily a regional airline but does serve some mid-hauls with lie flat seats.
Hey y’all! Jacob and I had a blast in Bangkok and now we’re in Siem Reap for a few days. In the spirit of my earlier post, I figured I’d share a photo trip report of my most recent flight between Bangkok and Siem Reap. Without further ado…
Oh wait, did I say first class….?
Busy day today.
Many people are logging into their Ebay accounts and seeing the following:
Thankfully, Ebay will be giving us one quarter to cash out our current bucks for gift cards, but earnings will stop next week.
/ht to Doctor of Credit readers, who prompted me to check my account.
Another one bites the dust….
This will be a photo-heavy post because I assume that in cases of trip reports, people are generally more interested in seeing photos than reading text! The photos should mostly speak for themselves…

Via reddit / various blogs, there are new increased signup bonus offers for both Hilton cards from American Express.
For the no fee card, the new offer is 75,000 points after $1000 in spending, compared to the normal 40,000 points after $750 in spending. The card offers 7x points on Hilton purchases, 5x at restaurants, supermarkets, and gas stations, and 3x everywhere else. It also offers Silver status in Hilton HHonors and Gold status if you spend more than $20,000 in a calendar year. I wouldn’t actually do this, or use the card for restaurants, supermarkets, or gas stations, by the way.
Both the personal and business Marriott credit cards have recently increased their signup bonuses to 80k Marriott points after $3,000 in spend. This is the highest offer I’ve ever seen, though it looks like the annual fee of $99 for the business card and $85 for the personal card are NOT waived. I don’t seem to see a bonus for adding an authorized user for this offer.
Both cards earn:
5 points per $1 spent at Marriott properties
I’ve been enjoying the benefits of being an American Express Platinum cardholder in the last few months due to being added as authorized user to Esther’s Ameriprise American Express Platinum card (thanks Esther!) The Centurion Lounges and concierge service have been great! Today I discovered a couple new benefits while flying out of Toronto Pearson (YYZ)
I’m on a lightning trip through New York, Toronto and Boston this week, strategically avoiding all the Super Bowl craziness going on in San Francisco. I’m flying currently to Boston from Toronto Pearson. I gave myself a decent amount of time to get through immigration and security, but thankfully, my American Express Platinum card made that even faster! First, Global Entry got me through immigration and customs extremely quickly, skipping that entire line. Next, I run into a pretty long security line. But what’s this I see? Apparently, through a program called Cloud 10, American Express has partnered with Toronto Pearson to bring benefits to certain American Express cardholders. And tada, there was a completely empty special security line specifically for Platinum and Centurion cardholders. Thus, the entire process of immigration, customs, and security took me a grand total of 7 minutes.
Via Point Me to the Plane, Air New Zealand business class from SFO, LAX, and a bit less so out of IAH are widely available to fly nonstop to Auckland (AKL). I was able to find a good amount of availability from SFO for the next few months.
It doesn’t look like continuing awards from AKL to Australia on Air New Zealand are very open though.
Via View from the Wing, JAL First class space is also widely available between Tokyo and Sydney from March to December this year.
