Update sometime in 2022 it now codes correctly for everyone even if it says Beverages & More, Inc, HOWEVER charges less than $10 no longer get credited. Must be over $10.

Update 1/25/22 – Chase and GoPuff still have not resolved this issue for Californians yet, it’s still showing up as BevMo and not getting credited back. Chase deflects the blame back to GoPuff, saying they cannot control how a merchant codes. GoPuff keeps saying they’ve passed the issue on to their engineers, but nothing has come of it in months.

For those of you with Chase cards, you probably know that you have a $10 per month Gopuff credit on each Chase card. Doctor of Credit reports that it works on gift card purchases, even though they are excluded in the fine print. However, I would like to petition Gopuff and Chase to make gift cards officially eligible for the credit for the following reason…

If you’re located in California like me, for some reason the charge codes as “BEVERAGES & MORE, INC” and does NOT get the automatic Gopuff credit. The charge needs to appear with GOPUFF somewhere in the merchant name in order to get the Gopuff credit. Now I’m not sure whether it’s all of California or just Norcal (I’m in SF Bay Area and have heard multiple people in the area report that it’s appearing as Bevmo, but I haven’t heard anything from Socal people yet — please leave a comment if you’ve got a datapoint!).

I’ve done some testing and when I change my address to Washington state and Pennsylvania, it shows up as GOPUFF and works fine. So the only way I could see this partnership promotion working for Californians is if we first buy $10 gift cards to another state, then apply the gift cards to an actual order we want to place to be delivered in California.

Mine posted as Beverages & More, Inc. and did not get a credit
How Gopuff codes in California (Norcal, at least), has not received credit nearly 20 days later
Friend's posted as (GOPUFF) GB LICENSE and got the credit within 4 days.
How Gopuff codes in Washington state (received the $10 credit adjustment quickly, within 1-2 days)

I reported the issue to Chase and Gopuff. Gopuff Support said they’d send it to engineers. It’s been nearly 3 weeks and nothing has changed, so I’m not sure what the engineers are going to do about it. Chase also responded on Twitter and said that it could take 14 business days to post. Well, it hasn’t been 14 business days yet (almost!), but given that I have over 5 orders with Bevmo as the merchant name that haven’t gotten the credit, and 3 orders with Gopuff as the merchant name that got the credit within 1-2 days, I have a feeling it will never post. Yes, I did just pay over $50 of real money to Gopuff to learn this so I could save you all the hassle. 🙂

I just stacked the T-Mobile Tuesdays free ice cream coupon (I picked the most expensive ice cream I could find, $9.99, and it qualified for the free ice cream coupon) and they delivered my entire order in 15 min. Insane, this is way faster than Doordash/Ubereats/etc (though to be fair, they have to actually cook food, not just pick it off a shelf).

Delivered in 20 min.

I appreciate if you do use it, since it will help me recover the $50 of real money I spent figuring out datapoints for this post! 😅
