Rejecting Citi’s arbitration agreement

I recently received updated cardholder agreements for all my Citi cards. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal and I tend to skip reading these, but I noticed a big clause about a new arbitration provision. It also said:

You have the right to reject this arbitration provision. If you reject, your account will no longer be subject to an arbitration provision. You can reject arbitration by writing to us at PO Box 6195, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-6195 stating that you would like to reject the arbitration agreement. Your letter must be postmarked on or before [various dates in end of December or early January]. We will not close your account if you reject this change. Continue reading →

Using Excel’s Solver Function to determine which Citi transactions earned bonus points

Hello! Today I have decided to tackle an annoying problem: determining which transactions on my Citi AT&T Access More statement earned 3X bonus points at retail and travel websites (yes, nerdy thing to do). While I’m only concerned about the AT&T card in today’s post, this frustration also applies to other Citi cards that earn Thank You Points, such as Citi Prestige, Premier, Forward, etc. Knowing what counts or doesn’t count for bonus points will help all of us build a valuable database of transactions that are eligible for this generous card, such as the one that Miles to Memories started, and this one from Doctor of Credit. And the Citi AA Platinum Select World Elite loophole with targeted mailers keeps chugging along

Back in February, there were fears that the Citi AA Platinum Select World Elite loophole was dead. I did my 3rd round right about when the reports that public links would not trigger the bonus. Fortunately, I applied with a targeted mailer and I did receive the signup bonus. Data points collected in March suggested that public links were failing, targeted links had a mixed success rate, and targeted mailers had a 100% success rate. Continue reading →

Getting a refund for Citi ThankYou Points flight reservations due to schedule change

I’m doing a lot of mileage running this year with the target of hitting the Executive Platinum status on American, so I had one of those crazy Panama runs booked. But as the date was getting closer, I decided I wanted to go for a shorter period of time, and didn’t really want to go on the weekend I booked.

I knew about American’s schedule change policy, which states that schedule changes over 2 hours will allow you to cancel a flight for free. But as I had booked through Citi with my ThankYou points for 1.6 cpm because I have a Citi Prestige, I wasn’t sure what their schedule change policy was. According to the Citi ThankYou terms & conditions regarding travel: Continue reading →

Getting to Europe using your transferable point currencies

As a follow up to the guide on how to get to Asia using your transferable points, Adam from The Jet Set Blog commented that he also had a  comprehensive guide for Europe. He’s also planning to add guides for each major region, so I’d give him a follow.

Introduction – Getting To Europe Using Your MRs, URs & TYPs

I’ve got some reading to do! And now that I will have 100k extra MR points, Alitalia is looking like an increasingly attractive option for business redemptions. Continue reading →

Comprehensive guide on how to get to Asia from the US using URs, MRs, and TYPs

I stumbled upon a very nice and comprehensive guide on how to effectively use your Chase UR, Amex MR, and Citi TYP to redeem for flight awards to Asia the other day. Given that I love travelling to Asia, this was perfect.

What Adam at the Jet Set Blog has compiled is a guide on the cost of awards from North America to Asia as well as details on how to book for every single airline transfer partner for each program. I haven’t found a guide this comprehensive before, and certainly not for the 3 major programs (excluding SPG). I personally got a lot of value out of the Membership Rewards part, as I hadn’t yet figured out what to do with the 50k I received for my PRG as well as the upcoming 100k from the Platinum card I just applied for. Some great credit card offers are back! Amex Platinum 100k and Citi AA 50k

EDIT: That was fast, as expected. The Amex Platinum link is now down.

Via ChetHazelEyes through reddit r/churning, the American Express Platinum 100k offer is back publicly. It is 100k Membership Rewards points after spending $3k in the first 3 months. I applied, was approved over recon, and confirmed the bonus offer.

You can access the offer through this link:

CitiBusiness AA Platinum Select 50k Offer Still Available!

Hey folks!

I was doing my own app-o-rama today, and I had intended to apply for the 50,000 point offer on the CitiBusiness AA Platinum Select card. Unfortunately, I found that most existing links are dead (as mentioned by most of the blogosphere a few weeks ago).

After some searching, however, I found a working link to the offer, which should be valid through April 30, 2016. Enjoy!

Step by Step Guide to Removing AU Cards from your Credit Reports

With the announcement of Chase extending their infamous “5/24 rule” to extend to all co-branded and business cards, there has been a lot of discussion about what to do in the interim before the rule takes effect and what to do after the hammer falls. For those who are unfamiliar, the 5/24 rule is that Chase will not approve you for a card if your credit report shows more than five new accounts in the last two years. This was designed to weed out applicants who ‘churn’ their cards for the signup bonuses without adding meaningful value to Chase as customers. Continue reading →

50k Citi Premier Offer Still Available!

Last week, Citi announced it was lowering the public offer for the Citi Thank You Premier to 40k points after meeting minimum spend requirements. This is obviously sad but probably expected given that it brings the bonus in line with the standard bonus for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Two days ago, Miles to Memories reported a back-door way to get the 50k Citi Premier offer to appear. Well, after some googling around, I found the front door: Continue reading →
